What I do with your information.

The short version: I collect what's needed to help you, I don't share it with anyone outside the carriers we apply with, and I never sell it. The longer version is below.

Last updated: May 2026

What this policy covers

This privacy policy describes how Lia McDonald ("I," "me," or "Lia"), a licensed insurance agent operating through Symmetry Financial Group, collects, uses, and protects information about you. It applies to information collected through this website, through forms you submit, and through any direct conversations we have about insurance.

What I collect

Information you provide directly

  • Contact information — name, phone number, email address, state of residence
  • Financial and household information — annual income, mortgage balance, debts, dependents, existing coverage (when you use the calculator or share it in a conversation)
  • Health information — only what's necessary to apply for life insurance, and only with your explicit consent during the application process
  • Communications — emails, voicemails, texts, and other messages you send me

Information collected automatically

  • Website analytics — anonymous data about how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on site, general location based on IP). I use this to understand what's working and what isn't.
  • Cookies — small files that help the site function. The site uses minimal cookies and doesn't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How I use your information

  • To respond to your inquiries and answer questions about life insurance
  • To provide coverage estimates and quotes from carriers
  • To follow up about your insurance situation when relevant (with your consent)
  • To submit applications to insurance carriers when you've decided to apply for coverage
  • To comply with legal, regulatory, and licensing requirements (including state insurance regulations)
  • To improve how this website works

Who I share it with

I share your information only when necessary, and only with these categories of recipients:

  • Insurance carriers — when you apply for coverage, your application information goes to the specific carrier you're applying with. This is required to process the application.
  • Service providers — companies that help me run the practice, like form-handling services (Formspree), scheduling tools (Calendly), and website hosting. These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and may not use your information for unrelated purposes.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities — if required by law, court order, or insurance regulator request.

I do not sell your information. I do not share it with marketing companies. I do not add you to third-party mailing lists. I do not share your details with other agents or brokers.

How I protect it

I use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information I collect. This includes encrypted transmission of forms (HTTPS), secure storage of any saved records, and access controls limiting who can see your information. Insurance-related "non-public personal information" is also protected under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), which sets specific federal standards for how insurance information must be handled.

No system is perfectly secure, and I can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs that affects your information, I'll notify you as required by applicable law.

How long I keep it

I keep your information only as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, plus any additional time required by law or insurance regulations. Common retention periods:

  • Inquiries that don't lead to a policy: typically 1–2 years, then deleted on request
  • Active client policies: for the life of the policy plus the period required by state insurance regulations (typically 5–7 years after policy termination)
  • Application records: as required by carriers and regulators

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what information I have about you
  • Request that I correct inaccurate information
  • Request that I delete your information (subject to legal/regulatory retention requirements)
  • Withdraw consent for follow-up communications at any time
  • Opt out of any non-essential data collection (like analytics)

To exercise any of these rights, contact me using the information below. I'll respond within 30 days.

Cookies and web technologies

The site uses minimal cookies, primarily for basic functionality (remembering form state, etc.). It does not use cross-site advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or third-party data collection beyond what's needed for site functionality and basic anonymous analytics.

Children's privacy

This service is not intended for individuals under 18, and I don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, please contact me and I'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time as my practice evolves or as legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top, and significant changes may be communicated to active clients directly.
