Lia McDonald Agency

Licensed Insurance Agent — Life, Living Benefits & Wealth-Building Strategies.

Think of me as your personal helper. I shop the carriers, handle the paperwork, and translate the fine print — across life, mortgage protection, disability, critical illness, and final expense. The hard work is mine. The decisions stay yours. No pressure, no jargon.

Where are you right now?

Most people don't shop for life insurance. They shop for what's happening in their life.

About Lia

Hi, I'm Lia.

I worked corporate jobs for years before realizing they weren't going to fit my life — so I built my own agency around it. I work with families across multiple states to find life insurance that actually makes sense for their situation.

No pushing. No urgency. No weird sales tactics. Just patient, plain-English conversations and access to enough carriers that I can usually find something even when other agents have walked away.

Common insurance misconceptions

Four of the biggest myths in insurance.

"I have mortgage insurance through my lender."

PMI protects the lender if you default. It does nothing for your family if you die or can't work. Mortgage protection life insurance is the version that actually keeps your family in the home.

"I have life insurance through work."

Group life through an employer ends when the job does. If you change jobs, get laid off, or retire, the coverage usually goes with the job — not with you. Personal coverage stays with you for life.

"I have a 401k. That's enough."

Retirement accounts often don't stretch as far as people expect, and they have rules about how and when you can access them — withdrawals are normally taxed as ordinary income on top of any early-withdrawal penalties. Life insurance proceeds typically pay quickly, tax-free, and don't depend on market timing.

"Life insurance is too expensive."

Most people overestimate the cost of life insurance by about three times. Term coverage for a healthy adult often runs $20–50 a month — less than a phone bill. The wrong policy can be costly; the right one usually isn't.

How I work

No pressure. No jargon. Just patience.

01

We talk about people, not products

Who are you protecting? What's the actual situation? Coverage decisions only make sense after the human ones.

02

I shop carriers until something fits

Not every carrier underwrites the same way. If one says no, that's not the end. Many of my favorite client stories start with someone else giving up.

03

We move at the right pace

I help people understand their options so they can make a better choice, quicker. We walk through what fits, answer the questions that matter, and decide — without dragging it out and without pushing.

Build something that fits your life.

Field underwriting at Symmetry Financial Group isn't a sales gig with a quota. It's a real career path — your own book of business, your own schedule, your own ceiling. Most of the people I mentor came from corporate jobs that stopped fitting. Some build it part-time alongside something else. Others go all in and pass their old salary inside a year.

No pressure to figure it out alone. You get training, mentorship, carrier access, and a community that's actually rooting for you. The honest version of what the work is — and what it isn't — lives on the careers page.

Before you talk to anyone

See what coverage actually fits your life.

Two minutes. No email required. Most people are surprised — usually by how little they need, sometimes by how much.

Common questions

Things people ask before they book a call.

How much does a 5-minute call cost?
Nothing. There's no fee for talking with me — ever. I'm paid by the carrier when a policy is placed, never by you.
Will you push me to buy something on the call?
No. Most first calls end with information, not a policy. If the call doesn't lead anywhere, that's fine — I'll thank you for your time.
I have health issues. Can I still get coverage?
Often, yes. Different carriers underwrite differently — what one says no to, another may approve. This is exactly the situation where having access to many carriers matters most.
Are you a captive agent or independent?
I work with multiple carriers through Symmetry Financial Group, which means I can shop coverage rather than push one company's products. I'll explain the trade-offs honestly when we talk.
What states are you licensed in?
I'm licensed in North Carolina, Colorado, Washington, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. If you're outside those states, I may be able to refer you to someone trustworthy or get licensed in your state — let's talk.

Want to talk?

Book a 5-minute call. There's no agenda except your questions. If we find a fit, great. If not, you'll leave with better information than you came in with.
